Project Overview
Flex, a rising player in the fintech sector, came to us with a complex challenge: design a new digital product from the ground up — one that would redefine how freelancers manage contracts, invoices, and tax compliance. They had a working prototype, but it lacked cohesion, clarity, and structure. Their vision was bold: create a unified platform that felt as intuitive as a consumer app but robust enough for financial professionals.
This wasn’t just product design — this was ecosystem design. Flex needed a partner who could guide UX strategy, create an elegant design language, and deeply understand user psychology around finance.
Our Approach
We started with product workshops to map out Flex’s long-term roadmap and identify MVP feature sets. The insights led us to create a modular product design system, backed by real-world workflows from freelancers and small businesses. Our process was rooted in user research, flow simplification, and design scalability.
Key principles we applied:
Clarity Above All:
Finance is inherently complex. We created interfaces that turned complexity into clarity — every screen had a purpose, and every control served a function.Modular UX Architecture:
Features like invoicing, contract drafting, and payment tracking were treated as plug-and-play modules that users could personalize based on needs.Built-in Confidence:
We designed visual cues and confirmations that made users feel secure when dealing with sensitive financial tasks.Scalable Foundations:
The design system could easily evolve as Flex added banking, investment, or insurance products in future phases.
Challenges & Solutions
Overloaded Dashboard:
We decluttered the homepage into customizable widgets, allowing users to see only what mattered — such as overdue invoices or upcoming tax filings.Onboarding Drop-off:
We transformed onboarding into a step-by-step assistant, offering guided setup and smart defaults to reduce cognitive load.Low Visual Trust:
We redesigned visual branding, applying calm color palettes, soft shadows, and subtle motion to establish trustworthiness.
